Job Description
Become part of the PUMA North America apparel team!
The candidate will provide leadership to the PUMA North America Apparel Design Team, and directly be responsible for driving the creative design and execution of four seasonal men’s product lines per year.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with international design team and creative director to incorporate global seasonal direction for BDC designed international collections as well as PUMA North America men’s and women’s Specific ranges.
- Partner with Graphic Design Team in establishing seasonal concept and graphic direction for each concept.
- Partner with World Cat sourcing offices and developers in research of fabrications techniques and applications. Develop thorough understanding of the capabilities, flexibility and limitations of source base.
- Partner with garment developers and technical designers to assure fit and styling.
- Create and execute men’s apparel ranges that are brand, channel and account appropriate and meet the needed cost and margin requirements.
- Partner in the design and execution of key account SMU needs.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of detail sheets, CADS, and tech packages based on design time and action calendar.
- Oversee and manage Apparel Design Team.
- Direct menswear junior designer
We expect:
- 3 plus years at the senior designer level for an apparel company.
- BS/BA or BFA degree required.
- Previous experience in managing direct reports.
- Advanced skill level in Illustrator.
- Strong graphic driven design sensibility.
- Strong line merchandising abilities / building well rounded and balanced collections.
- Skilled at utilizing product data-base development tool (PRM/PDM).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at various stages at the same time.
- Strong knowledge of apparel market, color and trends.
- Understanding of sports heritage inspired design direction a plus.
- Ability to effectively use Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office applications.
- Requires domestic and international travel; 15%.
